Manuel L. Quezon, the 2nd President of the
Philippines. Long before its formal organization, the territory
was a dense, wild forest known to early travelers as
“Toro”, named after the large herds of cattle
pasture-raised in the area by a prominent cattle owner. It was
later renamed Santo Niño by early Ilocano
settlers. Originally a component barrio under the vast territories
of Aliaga, Quezon was officially carved out and established as an
independent municipality on January 30, 1914.
Quezon is strategically tucked in the western section of Nueva
Ecija, bordered directly by the major towns of Guimba to the
north, Licab to the west, and Aliaga to the south. Based on the
official Philippine Statistics Authority census data, the
municipality records a population of 42,621 residents. It serves
as a peaceful, top-performing agricultural town, widely celebrated
for its extensive networks of irrigation systems. To celebrate its
cultural heritage and local bounty, the town centers its annual
festivities around thanksgiving gatherings that honor its local
farming achievements. Extensive rice cultivation, corn production,
and agri-retail trade remain the ultimate economic lifeblood and
primary source of livelihood for its local citizens.
