Gabaldon

Gabaldon

1st Class Municipality

Number of Barangay: 16

The name Gabaldon was originally called
“Bitulok” (a local term meaning “turning or
winding path”) and later “Sabani”, before it was
formally renamed on June 16, 1955. It was renamed in honor of
Isauro Gabaldon, a prominent former governor of
Nueva Ecija and assemblyman who authored the famous Gabaldon
Education Act of 1907. Long before its organization, it was a
massive hacienda territory covered in dense timber. In 1950,
Gabaldon was officially carved out as an independent municipality
from Laur through Republic Act No. 496.

Gabaldon is strategically tucked in the southeasternmost section of
Nueva Ecija, sitting right at the lush, scenic basin of the Sierra
Madre mountains. Based on the Philippine Statistics Authority
census, the municipality records a population of 40,223 residents.
It serves as a prime eco-tourism hub in Central Luzon, widely
visited for its refreshing nature spots like Gabaldon
Falls, Dupinga River, and the sweeping
views of the Sierra Madre mountain range. To celebrate its cultural
heritage, the town hosts its annual fiesta in coordination with
historical traditions, showcasing a colorful thanksgiving
celebration honoring the local mountain community’s abundance.
