Santa Rosa

Santa Rosa

1st Class Municipality

Number of Barangay: 33

The name Santa Rosa was given to honor its
patron saint, Saint Rose of Lima. Long before its
official organization, the territory was a massive, heavily
forested wilderness known as Barrio Bukol under
the jurisdiction of Cabanatuan. In 1878, early pioneering families
successfully petitioned Spanish colonial authorities for corporate
autonomy. The town holds an esteemed place in national history for
its crucial localized combat logistics during the Philippine
Revolution and for building the famous Santa Rosa
Arch in 1931—a historic municipal monument mirroring the
design architecture of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, France.

Santa Rosa is strategically tucked in the central plains of Nueva
Ecija, bordered directly by Cabanatuan City to the north, Laur to
the east, and San Leonardo to the south. According to the latest
official Philippine Statistics Authority census data, the
municipality records a thriving population of 80,258 residents.
It serves as a prime economic and transport corridor in Central
Luzon, widely recognized for absorbing the commercial spillover of
adjacent metropolitan centers. While its logistics terminals and
manufacturing zones steadily expand, tricycle sidecar fabrication,
extensive rice cultivation, large-scale vegetable production, and
highway-bound retail trade remain the ultimate economic lifeblood
and primary source of livelihood for its local citizens.
