General Mamerto Natividad

2nd Class Municipality

Number of Barangay: 20

The name General Mamerto Natividad (locally
shortened to Gen. M. Natividad) was coined in honor of
General Mamerto Natividad, Jr., one of the
youngest and most brilliant military heroes of the Philippine
Revolution who led critical battles against Spanish forces in
Nueva Ecija. Before its creation, the territory consisted of vast,
undeveloped agricultural areas divided among the boundary lines of
Cabanatuan, Talavera, and Rizal. On June 22, 1957, the municipality
was officially organized as an independent corporate town by
virtue of Republic Act No. 1587, separating its pioneer barrios to
establish a new local government center.

General Mamerto Natividad is strategically tucked in the
central-eastern section of Nueva Ecija, bordered by surrounding
agricultural trading hubs. Based on the Philippine Statistics
Authority census data, the municipality records a population of
43,779 residents. It serves as a peaceful, rural community known
for its scenic agricultural vistas and historical landmarks, such
as the newly inaugurated General Mamerto Natividad
Monument standing proudly at the heart of the municipal
hall complex. To celebrate its local identity and community
achievements, the town coordinates annual thanksgiving
celebrations that bring together its rural farming sectors.
